So many of our festive traditions are based around food. I guess that these cold winter days just feel like a chance to settle in and enjoy some delicious treats don’t they?
Here are my picks of the favourite festive food and drinks for the season that we’ve been testing out. What’s top of your Christmas food shopping list..?
Mash Direct (various products)
If you’re looking for some shortcuts on Christmas day or across the festive season, we can highly recommend these products. These multi award winning side dishes taste just like you’ve made them yourself, but without the washing up. We particularly love the Carrot & Parsnip Mash and the Honey Glazed Parsnips.
Judge Cookware Roasting Dishes
If you are cooking a small – medium sized joint this festive season, try cooking it in a lidded casserole roasting tin, such as this one from Judge. It will lock in the flavour and juices and avoid the need for any extra foil. This would also make a brilliant gift for a foodie who would love some quality equipment in their kitchen.
Mr Stanley’s (various products)
These sweet treats are such a find, really unique and unusual ideas and flavours (Salted Caramel Chocolate Matchstick anyone?) The retro packaging makes them the perfect stocking filler or after dinner treat.
Cornishware Mugs
We were very kindly sent a family set of personalised Cornishware mugs this year. They are absolutely beautiful. A design classic, they are comfortingly sturdy. Perfect for a giant bucket of tea in the morning or a snifter of hot chocolate for the children. Wouldn’t these make a wonderful family gift?
Peters Yard Crispbreads (various products)
These delicious crispbreads are a Nordic style bake, wholesome and tasty. They make a super base for a snack or spread with your favourite festive cheese. Try the Spelt & Fig with some brie.
Cotswold Gin
This delicious gin is a blend of nine botanicals. Made in a classic London gin style, it uses bay leaf, grapefruit, lime, black pepper and cardamom seed and Cotswold lavender for a local twist. A great addition to the Christmas drinks cabinet or as a gift for gin lovers.
Mr Crumb Stuffings (Now available in Sainsbury’s and Asda)
Every Christmas table needs stuffing and these lovingly crafted products make a great shortcut. They also offer gluten free and organic options. We loved the Apple and Apricot.
Bottle Bazaar Personalised Bottles
Add a touch of fun to your Christmas table with a personalised wine bottle (or two!) These would also make a super thoughtful gift for someone who likes a tipple. Available in a huge variety of wines and with labels for all ocassions, you’ll certainly find the right bottle for the right person.
Gnaw Hot Chocolate Sticks
Fancy a festive hot chocolate beside the fire this winter? You need these little bad boys in your life. They will transform a cup of hot milk into a deliciously tasty chocolate drink. They also look very pretty before you dunk them. I’m popping some into our Christmas Eve box.
Stag Bakeries Cheese Straws
These lovingly handcrafted all butter cheese straws are absolutely delicious. Flaky and flavourful they are dangerously moreish. They would be perfect with pre-dinner drinks over the festive period.
Nakd Christmas Pudding Bars (from Holland and Barratt)
This lighter version of the Christmas classic pud is super tasty. A great snack to keep to hand when you want to make a slightly healthier choice with no less flavour.
The Bloody Mary Kit
This clever kit from Godminster contains everything you need to make the perfect Bloody Mary on boxing day morning. Complete with horseradish vodka and spiced Bloody Mary mixer, any sore heads will be banished by breakfast (perhaps).
Haribo Starmix Cracker
HARIBO has a cracking gift for Secret Santas and stocking fillers this Christmas – Starmix and Tangfastics in their own cracker shaped tube which offers the perfect sweet gesture that’s great tasting and great value. These will definitely be going into some stockings in this house..
We LOVED these handcrafted liqueurs. They are made in Evesham in a whole variety of unique and delicious flavours. They’d make a super after dinner tipple or a stocking filler. The Sweet Potato Spirit Collection Gift Box features four 5cl miniatures of each of the new range of sweet potato spirits; Moonshine, Spiced Rum, Orangecello and Raspberry Liqueur.
