How to make easy peasy Homemade Fish Fingers using our simple recipe. Just four ingredients and supper tasty family meal every time.

A few weeks ago, we visited Perran Sands, near Perranporth, Cornwall. It’s a Haven holiday park, and they invited us to stay to explore the area in our own foodie way.
They also asked us, honestly, how we found cooking in one of the Haven caravans. So I thought I’d share this recipe, which we cooked whilst there.
We had a really lovely few days exploring the area and on the single rainy day, we had great fun testing out the Haven activities on site.
Harri tried her hand at archery (and within about 3 minutes, was a better shot than me) and we also got our skates on at the roller disco in the evening!
I felt like I was 13 again, but to be clear, my rollerskating skills had gone downhill somewhat since 1994.
We decided to have a quiet afternoon in our accommodation, so we cooked our own lunch in there.
There’s a small Mini Mart on the site if you’re staying with Haven and planning to cook, or there are two Co-Op supermarkets in the town of Perranporth.
I was super impressed by the size of the living space in the caravan. Showing my lack of mobile home knowledge, but I’d imagined something like the touring caravans towed by cars. This is something totally different.
A full size, modern oven, table for four, all of the cutlery and pots and pans you could need and heaps of space. The kitchen was airy and light and a pleasure to cook in.
My only negative feedback was that there was no chopping board provided. We muddled through with plates though and I’ll feed this back to Haven as it’s such a little detail which would be a good addition to the kitchens. There was absolutely everything else we need though to cook up a storm.
I chopped up some large baking potatoes into wedges whilst the oven heated up, tossed them with olive oil and a little salt and pepper.
I baked the potatoes wedges for about 40 minutes whilst we got on with making Homemade Fish Fingers.
Which fish should you use for Homemade Fish Fingers?
We used cod fillets trimmed down as it was easy to get hold of and local. You could also use salmon fillets if you prefer, or any other firm white fish.
How do you make Homemade Fish Fingers?
This Homemade Fish Fingers recipe is super simple so that children can get stuck in and help to make them.
We take pieces of fish cut into strips, and roll them in flour, before dipping in egg, followed by breadcrumbs.
Then bake them until golden and crispy.
What can you serve with Homemade Fish Fingers?
They go really well with easy homemade potato wedges, ketchup (of course) or tartar sauce, plus some simple salad.
We kept it super easy (we were on holiday after all) with tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce. I also find that the children eat more vegetables when they can dig in and help them themselves to make their own little salad.
We absolutely loved our stay at Haven Perran Sands and were really impressed by the kitchen in our accommodation.
There was easily space for four of us to cook and eat together, not to mention have a rest afterwards. We kept our home cooking fairly simple as we were on holiday, but I would have happily cooked there more.
