October has passed in a flash here (do I say that every month?!) Life has felt like a bit of a muddle if I’m honest, Mr TT has been away lots, I’ve been down in London a few times working, we’ve had the kitchen decorated and there’s just been general chaos around and about for some reason.
The joy in the midst of the craziness has been these two. My feisty, head strong girl one was such a challenge last month. I had those moments of “Oh God, is this it now? She’s basically a teenager?” But thank heavens this month, it feels like she’s come back to me. There’s been a lot of cuddles and less conflict, they’ve both listened a bit more (as much as toddlers ever do) and she has totally embraced all of the new things they are learning at kindergarten.
In other news, have I told you about the 100 Day Goal? I’ve been taking part in this personal challenge where you set yourself a goal, and work towards it with 100 micro-actions, doing one each day. My goal was “To feel more organised” and I’d been doing so well, but this month I’m lagging behind. My focus for November is to get back on the wagon and get those last 30 or 40 bits and bobs done (including such gems as paint the kitchen table and reorganise the garage – arrgh!)
Visited
As always, G&H and I went on some adventures on their much loved balance bikes. They are both planning to ask Father Christmas for a pedal bike so they are enjoying getting in some speeding down the hill (terrifying me) time in. (Clearly they are planning on behaving well enough between now and Christmas to receive what’s on their list.. Here’s hoping!)
This is on top of the beautiful Clent Hills, really close to where we live. I bribe them up the hill with the promise of ice cream when we get to the bottom. The race down the hill is perfect balance biking practise and the sight at the top makes my spirits lift, however grey they day is.
I also popped to the new Birmingham Grand Central – how beautiful is this roof? (#nerd) Some amazing shops and restaurants, I’m super pleased that we have such an iconic building full of gems in the second city.
I also shopped at HomeSense. Let this be a reminder why not to take your husband with you…
Read
Okay, I’m reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying which, if I’m honest, I’m not entirely sure about yet. The writer seems a teeny bit terrifying, I shall report back next month. BUT.. I also read this… (Blowing my own trumpet moment alert.)
Yes, that is me (name spelled wrong, but I’ll forgive them) in The Observer, quoted as a style icon. There have been A LOT of laughs amongst my friends about this but I am just mainly bowled over to have been included and to be on the same page as Zoella, OMG!
Ate
What haven’t I eaten? This is a baked cauliflower bake that we made for Good To Know Kids Kitchen (the video will be up soon). Because everything is better with cheese and bacon – yes?
Wore
I have done a bit of shopping this month, including this Star Pattern Jumper that I’m a bit in love with. These shoes where the only thing that sneaked into a photo though. They are old Boden faves from last year and I love them. They just shout autumn to me. Oh and LEOPARD PRINT for the win.
Made
I made these Mini Pumpkin Bread Loaves this month. They are one of my favourite recipes ever on this blog, I was really pleased with the photos (which I took in about 5 minutes – unheard of for faffer me!) and the recipe really is the taste of the season.
And last but not least.. We made our Christmas cake. I know, I know. Keen. As. Mustard. It was such a joy to make it with these two. Chaotic, sticky, messy and noisy but a joy all the same. They really understood this year and loved being part of the first Christmas-y activity of the year. More time for boozy feeding of it – yes!
Bye October, it’s been a funny old month, roll on November and settling in for winter and Christmas preparations..
