Just So Festival Memories 2015

This weekend we were were lucky enough to have our first experience of the wonderful Just So Festival. It’s a small, weekend long festival, all about family creativity and good old fashioned fun. Dressing up, getting mucky, singing and making things all feature heavily in this magical little place.

Now, there were lots of things that could go wrong that weekend. Mr TT was away so I was in sole charge of two tots and after a rain drenched week, they were wildly, breathlessly, excited for some outdoor shenanigans. Toddler mothers? We all know that, that level of excitement leaves you in the danger zone. What can possibly live up to their imagination?

Well, JustSo did. We spent the day with my dear friend Em’ (BrummyMummyof2) and her family. Luckily our children are rather besotted with each other and our odd fish/fox hybrid motley crew loved sharing this adventure (this may have left us free to enjoy the odd mojito ice lolly).

The programme of workshops, plays, shows and music spans 3 days, although we were only there for Saturday. There’s something for everyone, craft, music, comedy, film, theatre and all of it is arranged with family as the focus. We loved the High Seas pirate adventures and digging in the sand, meeting fairies whilst wandering through the woods and trying our hand at circus skills. Alas, Em’ and I did miss out on the amazing looking Lush spa – next year I am THERE.

Every corner you turn, there’s something exciting, colourful, creative to look at or take part in. All of it seems to be so carefully thought out and truly in keeping with the theme of the festival. Fun in a slower way, and although there’s no preachy message, it did remind me that spending a bit less time looking at screens and a bit more making paper aeroplanes is good for the soul.

We’ll definitely think about camping next year, I’d love to be able to embrace the full festival experience with the children, with bedtime stories and the forest campfire.

Thank you JustSo, it was everything promised and more…

We were kindly gifted with tickets to attend the festival, we were not required to write a positive review and as always all opinions are our own.
